About Me

I grew up in a creative environment - my father has always worked in the museum field, so I was always surrounded by artist and designers. In high school, I was enrolled into the Lafayette Arts Academy. After graduating high school I attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and received my BFA in studio arts. During my time at the University of Louisiana,I learned a multitude of things - creative process, the fundamentals of design, and color theory, among many others. I also learned skills like painting, printmaking, Photoshop, and Illustrator. After college, I had an incredible opportunity to work as a Personal Financial Representative at the University Federal Credit Union in Austin, TX. My time at UFCU taught me to build empathy. My mission was to help the credit union's members to improve their financial well being. I would interview our members and work to build them the best financial plan with UFCU’s services. The job taught me that members come first but business needs are not to be overlooked. What drove me into UX was seeing my clients at UFCU get confused or intimidated by UFCU’s online and mobile banking. This tool that was meant to make their life easier did not have the heuristics it needs to accomplish that goal. I had a desire to fix these things, and that's how I fell in love with User Experience Design.
